CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) words are awesome for kindergarten ESL learners to learn as they not only help build phonemic awareness, but the relatively simple decoding also helps build reading confidence and bridge the gap between letter recognition and meaningful reading. Here are some videos, songs, and games focusing on letter 'a' CVC words you can use in your class to help make your lessons more fun and varied!

A useful no-nonsense video pronouncing and spelling many CVC 'a' words. You can pause and have students elicit the sounds before they are said.

Another no-nonesense video about 11 minutes in length that also practices sight words 'it' 'is' and 'a'. It shows the sentences three times, first to repeat and second and third time to try by yourself. If it is too quick remember to pause and give students a chance to say by themselves.
